- A study conducted by Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Bentley University found an 11% increase in children entering the foster system in states where abortion access is restricted
- Children from marginalized racial and ethnic communities are most at risk
- Since SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade, 23 states have enacted restrictions on abortion access, with total bans in 14 states
- 25 million women of child bearing age in the US (1/3 of women ages 15-45) live in areas where abortion care is severely restricted
- With over 4 million children in the US placed into foster care between 2000 and 2020, many states are already facing overburdened foster care systems
