- Average teacher salary has declined by 6.4% ($3,644) over the last decade (adjusted for inflation)
- Teachers make about 33 percent less than other college-educated professionals in the US
- 34 states have starting teacher salaries below $40,000 a year
- In 30 states the average teacher salary is below the state’s living wage
- 40% of full-time K-12 education support professionals earn less than $25,000 annually
- Top 5 states with highest average salary are in BLUE states, bottom 5 with lowest average salary are in RED states!
