As part of the Unity Agenda, the Biden-Harris administration has taken steps to beat the overdose epidemic, and reduce the number of lives lost to drug overdose. Including:
- Created guidelines to ensure that all federal facilities have access to Naloxone
- Created White House Challenge to Save Lives from Overdose
- Invested over $100 billion to disrupt the flow of illicit drugs and expand access to treatment
- FDA approved Naloxone for non-prescription, over-the-counter use
Between April 2023 and April 2024, deaths from overdose declined by 10%, the first time in decades.
