Elon Musk is out as head of the Department of Government Efficiency. While the alleged purpose of DOGE was to remove fraud, waste, and abuse from the government, its accomplishments so far have not aligned with its mission. In fact, what Musk did accomplish was to increase his net worth by over $100 bn.
At the end of Musk’s 130 day tenure, Senator Elizabeth Warren released a report with 130 examples of the billionaire violating government norms and/or potentially violating federal law.
Highlights include:
- Used government resources to promote his businesses
- Obtained federal contracts for his businesses
- Ended pending legal action against his businesses
- Changing policy to benefit his businesses
- Weaponizing agencies against his enemies
- Meddling in the electoral and judicial processes
