Trump Holding Snap Hostage
Trump is using food insecure Americans as collateral damage in an attempt to force Democrats to cave on the budget so that Republicans can take away their healthcare and give Trump a blank check.
The latest:
- For the first time since its inception in 1939, SNAP benefits are not available
- 42 million people rely on SNAP, including: 16 million children, 8 million seniors and 1 million veterans
- 2 federal judges ruled that the $5 billion emergency fund can and must be used, but so far the Trump administration has made no move to do so, and that amount would still fall short of the $9 billion needed
